OBOA Members:  Please note the extended deadline, until 9/30/2010, for obtaining an ICC CBO certificate.

OBOA is pleased to announce that ICC’s Board for Professional Standards has given its approval for Oregon code officials to become certified by ICC in the “substantially equivalent” categories of ICC’s national certification. ICC is offering Oregon certificate holders a window during which Oregon certificate holders can secure equivalent ICC certifications simply by sending ICC an application, Oregon certification documentation and evidence of completing an approved code course on the 2003 I-code cycle. While there is an administration fee associated with this process, certification examinations and examination fees are waived during the period from April 1, 2006, to September 30, 2009.  The transition period described above has ended for all certificates except the ICC CBO.  If you are interested in obtaining an ICC CBO cetificate, you can use the transition application below until September 30, 2010.

The Oregon-ICC Transition Application and a list of the OBOA-ICC Approved Courses are available to facilitate the transition for interested code enforcement personnel. There is an Addendum to the approved course list that provides for using a course roster in lieu of a certificate of attendance if the certificate has been misplaced.

On behalf of the Oregon Building Officials Association, we would like to express our appreciation to the ICC for all their cooperative efforts with OBOA and allowing this monumental certification equivalency to take place. Without the recent rule changes approved by Building Codes Division, this could have never occurred.
